Words of Comfort for the family

 

Arthur Valvoda, age 85, of Elma, died on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church near Elma with Father Ray Atwood celebrating mass.  Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery with Ronald Valvoda, Chad Valvoda, Scott Valvoda, Ken Haskovec, Tim Chihak and Tom Chihak serving as casket bearers.  Military Rites by John Frahm American Legion Post #597.

Visitation will be 4:00-7:00pm on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in Elma with a Rosary at 5:00 pm and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. 

Arthur Lewis Valvoda was born October 21, 1922 near Elma, Iowa to Lewis and Barbara (Haskovec) Valvoda.  He was a 1941 graduate of Elma High School.  Art served with the US Army during World War II and after his discharge he farmed south of Schley until he retired.  After his retirement, he continued to live on the farm.  Art was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing.

Art is survived by one nephew Ronald (Nancy) Valvoda of Elma and two nieces Rosemary Valvoda of Castle Rock, CO and Beverly Valvoda of Aurora, CO; one great niece Jaclyn Valvoda of Mason City, IA and two great nephews Chad Valvoda of Manly, IA and Scott Valvoda of Elma.  He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Raymond Valvoda.
